The 4 Seasons Summer Fun Run/Walk has combined with Hospice Waikato to do a charity event: “Hospice Run for Life” starting from Hamilton Gardens.

Join together with your family, friends and colleagues to exercise, celebrate life, pay tribute to loved ones and remember those who are no longer here with us. You’ll have a great morning enjoying a 5km or 10km fun run or walk, which will help Hospice Waikato with every step. Everyone is welcome – corporate groups, school groups or community groups, as well as individuals and their dogs!

There will be lots of spot prizes on the day water at the finish line and a large timer so you can see how your training has paid off.

The Kirikiriroa Marathon Society hosts the annual Kirikiriroa Marathon, at Hamilton Gardens in Hamilton, New Zealand, which can be run solo or in three person relay team.

The event was conceived as a low cost marathon, specifically to encourage and support those running one for the first time. It also showcases Hamilton’s greatest iconic features.

The course is out and back, on sealed river paths. It begins and ends in the Hamilton Gardens and goes as far north as Horotiu Bridge.

The ADRA Charity Run in Hamilton has fun run and walk events along the banks of the picturesque Waikato River and is a great family and friends event.

With two different distances the ADRA Charity run is for everyone. The 10km walk or run is for serious runners and runners who want a serious challenge. The 5km is for those who want a challenge but want to have fun too! The 5km is for all runners who would like to take on a distance that will give you a sweat but also allows you to dress up as your favorite superhero and put the fun back in fundraising!

There are 4km, 8km and 11km options in this event organised by the Hamilton Road Runners Club.

The course starts and ends at Hamilton Yacht Club on Lake Rotoroa / Hamilton Lake.

The Insight Endometriosis Purple Walk for Awareness in Hamilton supports endometriosis awareness.

Dress up in purple and walk around the Hamilton Lake walkway starting from the yacht club.

There is a up at 5:30pm and the walk starts at 5:45pm. Join the walk, and help raise awareness of this significant condition affecting at least 10,000 Waikato women and teenage girls.

St Peter’s Catholic School’s Waipa Fun Run is a day for the whole family – from the little ones, school aged children, through to Mum and Dad and the grandparents – everyone is able to either walk or run this event.

Situated in the heart of Cambridge, the Waipa Fun Run has something to offer everyone – a 5km or 10km walk or run, the All Sew Embroidery Corporate Challenge and the 2km Ricoh School Challenge (for schools only) – you’ll not be disappointed.

This year they’re also pleased to be running the event in conjunction with the Cambridge Autumn Festival – so spend the rest of the day in Cambridge enjoying the festivities on offer!

The Te Awamutu Athletic Club Golf Course Fun Run is an off road run with 3km run for school students, 3km walk, 6km run/walk, 9km run and a 4 person 12km relay option.

The event is at the Te Awamutu Golf Club on Kihikihi Road. The course is a 3km loop with the 3km being 1 lap, 6km 2 laps, 12km 4 laps and the relay 1x3km lap for each team member.

The Huntly Half Marathon, 10km fun run/walk, 5km fun run/walk and kids 2km events is a well-established event on the running calendar and has a strong fan base, attracting approximately 3000 walkers and runners from Auckland, the Waikato and central North Island.

The new course from 2016 starts from Riverview Rd Reserve, featuring a virtually flat single out & back route that follows the mighty Waikato River on completely on sealed roads. This course will only be used for the Half Marathon participants and no other event distances.

The Kakepuku Fun Run and Walk is the second of three events in the Hamilton Summer Series.

There are 6km and 14km options in this event organised by the Te Awamutu Marathon Clinic.

The course starts and ends at Pokuru School; the 14km course circles Mount Kakepuku and the 6km is an out-and-back.

The XTerra Trail Challenge Waihi is a trail running/walking event in the historic Karangahake Gorge which has a myriad of old tramping, rail and tramway tracks completely surrounded in native bush, where some of the best off-road trails around the country call home.

The XTerra Trail Challenge is the culmination of the popular XTerra Auckland Trail Run / Walk series, a series of 6 events that have been held May – Sep this year in some of the best off-road locations in and around the greater Auckland region. The XTerra Trail Challenge Waihi is open to off-road and trail enthusiasts of all ages, abilities, regardless if you’re tall, short, young, wise, a rabbit or a tortoise, this event screams inclusive!

Each event offers 4 courses ranging from Short (5 to 7km) to Super Long (21km+) and some in-between, with a competitive/non-competitive walk or run option. There’s always some challenging but achievable terrain to tame while you’re out there, and there will always be a cold speight’s for you when you get to the finish!

Whether you have completed the full XTerra series season and this is your final challenge of the year or it is your first-time event, you are going to have a blast!

The Tauranga Half Marathon, 15km, 10km, 5km and Matua Mile have scenic courses that take in numerous local parks, reserves and walkways.

All races are fully on-road in the CBD and along the seaside. Expect to post smart times on the rolling, scenic, half marathon course, which includes a loop of the Tauranga CBD streets, picturesque Memorial Park, plus Beach Road, Harbour Drive and Kulim Park. All events are fast and flat with very little elevation gain.

The Bombay Pioneer Settlers Fun Run is an annual 21km half marathon along with 15km, 10km and 6km fun runs in Bombay, Auckland.

This event is run by the Bombay Lions Club to celebrate the arrival of the ship “Bombay” from England. The “Bombay” was towed into Auckland by the warship “Curacoa” having lost a large portion of her masts and rigging in a terrible storm off the coast of New Zealand. She arrived on 18th March 1865 carrying 400 assisted immigrants destined for the area now called Bombay where they were to settle on their promised 10 acre allotments.

To reach their new home they travelled along the Great South Road from Drury to Bombay, a road that had a short time before been completed by the army. You will be running or walking the path they would have travelled.

Relay For Life at Pukekohe Showgrounds is an overnight fundraising run/walk event filled with fun, festivities and camaraderie, where everyone in your community can raise vital funds to support Kiwis with cancer.

Team members take turns walking around the track, and when you’re not on the track, there are heaps of activities and entertainment to enjoy. In the months leading up to the event, Relay teams fundraise for Cancer Society by getting their friends and family to sponsor them with donations. Many teams also fundraise by running mini events, such as quiz nights, morning teas and sausage sizzles.

The Podium Offroad Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K at TECT All Terrain Park is a true offroad run/walk event, in every sense of the word. You’ll come across river crossings, muddy banks, puddles in a surround of native bush.

The race begins at the mountain bike hub and continues on a gravel pathway which takes you into the the bush on to a dirt tracks

The course is a mixture of gravel road, MTB tracks, equestrian tracks and walking paths. All courses are single loop tracks, they will take in some amazing views over the Bay of Plenty, and keep the mind entertained. Each course has been designed to be achievable yet challenging.

Ocean Running Mt Maunganui is a scenic 5km run run and walk around the Mauao base track, every Tuesday evening during daylight savings.

Enter at Mount Ocean Sports Club on Pilot Bay from 5.15pm onwards. Walkers start at 5.40pm and runners at 6.00pm. The $5 entry fee includes a free drink and a chance to win a spot prize after the run.

Any surpluses from the entry fee goes back to the community and local charities.
