The Kids Fun Run is part of the IRONMAN New Zealand week in Taupo, so there’s something for the whole family to enjoy.

Calling all kids aged 5 – 12…Kids Fun Run will be coming back to Taupo this March! Choose from 3 fun distances 750m/1400m/2000m, and become a champion on Friday 3 March 2017. Every participant will receive a special t-shirt and finishers medal.

The Taupo Harriers Starlight 5km Series is an annual race series on Wednesday nights at 6:00pm starting in January or February, timed to fit with the Taupo Ironman.

A separate 5km race is run the week of the Ironman but is not part of the series. The final race is also not part of the series and usually does something different, such as being handicapped or running the course in the opposite direction.

This event is open to all comers, not just club members.

Kia Ora! Join us for the Taupo Ultramarathon along the shores of Great Lake Taupo, New Zealand. Come tackle the 14 km, 24km, 50km, 74km, 100km or the 100km teams relay option. (While not ultra distances, the 14km and the 24km will give those new to the sport a taste of the experience).

There is nothing better than on a crisp cool day in Taupo, popping on a couple of layers and hitting the superb trails for a wee jaunt. Come Sunday 2nd July, you can do just that at the revamped Tauhara Trail Run/Walk event, based on the Off Highway just 5 minutes out of Taupo.
There are three-course distance options – an honest 21km, a solid 10km number, and a swift 5km course, which is a single loop taking in some fine farmland tracks and trails. All courses can be run or walked.

This event celebrates the endeavours undertaken by the Waikato River Trails Trust over the past 13 years, culminating in around 100km of top quality trails, most of it on previously inaccessible land along the mighty Waikato River. In partnership with the Waikato River Trails Trust, Total Sport brings to you an epic, challenging yet achievable event utilising the Waikato River Trails – a point to point event that will offer individuals and teams of all ages, abilities and levels of fitness, the opportunity to run/walk or mountain bike these amazing trails in a major participation event.

Central Kids Reporoa is running into 2017 with a fundraising off road fun run at Handcock Road, Reporoa.

There are distances to challenge all abilities and a kiddie dash for the littlies for a gold coin donation. The fun run is open to all ages and all levels of athletic ability. There will be water stations on the course and what better way to spend a late summer morning than a run/jog/walk through great kiwi countryside?

The Rotorua Off Road Half Marathon is an annual event at the spectacular Whakarewarewa Forest. Event options include the half marathon, quarter marathon and 5K; and 3K and 1.5K “Little Devils” kids events.

The course follows a mixture of smooth gravel forest roads and scenic forest trails, designed to be achievable by competitors of all abilities. The half marathon is two loops of the quarter marathon course.

The Radix XTERRA Rotorua Festival is the biggest multisport event in New Zealand and the biggest XTERRA event held anywhere in the world.

XTERRA’s focus is to inspire people to get out and be active in New Zealand’s great outdoors. Since its inception in 13 years ago, the XTERRA Rotorua Festival has grown to become the biggest XTERRA event in the world. Each year eight events are offered for competitors to choose from and are set in and around Rotorua’s Blue Lake and Whakarewarewa Forest. It is without question amongst the most beautiful scenery in New Zealand.

The Trout Fly Summer Series is a 3km and 5km run, jog or walk in Rotorua on alternate Thursdays through the summer. It is organised by the Lake City Athletics Club.

Entry fees are $5 for adults and $3 for children; the entry fee includes a free wine or beer for the adults, a soft drink for the kids and BBQ sausages. You don’t need to be a club member to run.

There are walks that will suit just about everyone: an evening walk on the Friday night; 42km, 21km and 10km walks in Whakarewarewa Forest; and 30km, 20km and 10km town walks.

For most walks you will only need a comfortable pair of shoes so it is the easiest form of exercise to get involved in.

Based around the 42 Traverse, an old logging road that gets its name from the original ‘State Forest 42′. The T42 is a classic NZ event that has a variety of run/walk distances as well as the ‘whole hog’ 48km MTB.

All events come to a climax in the comfort of the Park Hotel (event HQ) in Nation Park Village with a post event prizegiving, dinner & party that has quite a history.

For the many of you who have been to the Central Plateau area, I’m sure you’ll agree that it is full of off-road delights and is one of the most magical and unique places in NZ. Based around the famous and iconic 42 Traverse track, the T42 Central Plateau offers the following event options;

– 48km Mountain Bike
– 42.2km Trail Marathon Run
– 24km Trail Adventure Run/Walk
– 11km Trail Run/Walk
– 6.5km Trail Run/Walk

The Podium Offroad Marathon, Half Marathon and 10K at TECT All Terrain Park is a true offroad run/walk event, in every sense of the word. You’ll come across river crossings, muddy banks, puddles in a surround of native bush.

The race begins at the mountain bike hub and continues on a gravel pathway which takes you into the the bush on to a dirt tracks

The course is a mixture of gravel road, MTB tracks, equestrian tracks and walking paths. All courses are single loop tracks, they will take in some amazing views over the Bay of Plenty, and keep the mind entertained. Each course has been designed to be achievable yet challenging.

The Hammer Nutrition Hawke’s Bay Trail Run Series is a series of five off road trail run/walk events in the Napier/Hastings/Waipukurau area.

The locations are often the same from year to year, but the courses are always different. The series gives you the chance to see parts of Hawke’s Bay you may not ordinarily get to see while at the same time experiencing the joys and pleasures of running off road.

The Ruapehu EXPRESS returns in 2017, once again bringing you an opportunity for an epic adventure in a stunning landscape!

Event types: Run/Walk | Bike/Duathlon

The event involves a mountain bike event and a separate running/walking event in the foothills of Mount Ruapehu. Each event has a different course and start line, but they share a finish in the mountain side township of Ohakune. Yes it’s a race, but you are welcome to just cruise if you want and take in the spectacular scenery.

The Waitomo Trail Run is a true New Zealand underground and overground adventure, with explorers running or walking over and under landscape that has to be seen to be believed.

With surreal karst-studded landscapes, caves, native bush, vibrant working farms, tunnels, canyons and glowworms, it’s as magical as you can possibly get. The courses have plenty of adventure and less-adventurous options, guaranteeing something for everyone. Everyone will have the chance to explore underground as well as hidden gems tucked away on private properties. The scenery is simply breathtaking

The Te Awamutu Athletic Club Golf Course Fun Run is an off road run with 3km run for school students, 3km walk, 6km run/walk, 9km run and a 4 person 12km relay option.

The event is at the Te Awamutu Golf Club on Kihikihi Road. The course is a 3km loop with the 3km being 1 lap, 6km 2 laps, 12km 4 laps and the relay 1x3km lap for each team member.
